  • Can I just have a biocide treatment on my roof and not have the moss removed?
This will depend on the amount of moss already on the roof. If you roof has previously been cleaned and algae has started to stain it again and you just want the treatment topped up then yes. However if there is a considerable amount of moss on the roof then it will need removing first.
  • Do you pressure wash roofs?
Although we have the equipment and ability to pressure wash roof as a rule we don't unless the customer asks for it. We feel while pressure washing gives the best wow factor it is the most likely way to damage a roof so we use the most up to date method of roof cleaning which uses compressed air and a wire brush. The air lifts the moss from the roof and between the cracks and then the wire brush brushes it off.
  • Do you walk on the roof?
No. We use extending carbon fibre poles, a mobile aluminium tower scaffold, and ladders so there is no need to walk on the roof
  • What is a biocide?
A biocide is a chemical that is used to kill the biomass (moss, moss spores, algae and lichen) left on a roof after moss removal. It works by breaking down the cell walls of organic organisms so won't change the colour of your roof surface. We have spent a considerable amount of time and money on getting City and Guilds accredited qualifications on the proper use, safety and applying biocides
  • Do you remove all the moss from the roof?
We aim to remove 95% of the moss from the roof. Any remaining moss will be killed by the biocide and will drop off as a dust over the next 6 to 12months
  • Do you take the moss away?
No. Due to waste haulage laws we don't take any moss from the property. However we have heavy duty sacks we can put it in and zip tie shut. Alternatively we are happy to put it into green waste bins, compost heaps or anywhere else you may want it
  • What payments do you take and is there any deposit to pay?
We take all major debit and credit cards and cash but our preferred method of payment is bank transfer. When you agree to a roof cleaning quote we will need a deposit of 1/3 of the cost of the job.
  • What if there is any damage on the roof?
When moss is removed from a roof pre existing damage may become apparent. If we spot any problems we will take photos and make the customer aware of the problem. As we don't actually go on the roof and the equipment that we use is very light it is extremely unlikely that we would cause any damage. If we feel that we have caused damage or if you feel we have damaged anything we have £5,000,000 insurance.
